With the Summer of sport well and truly underway, it’s time to turn our attention away from Football and toward the tour of two wheels, the Tour De France, which takes us from July 2nd right through to the 24th.
And what better way to get into the spirit than with Whistles’ 70’s style Tour tee. The classic contemporary British brand commissioned Designer Alec Dougherty, whose work you may well have seen within the super nice pages of It’s Nice That, or wrapped around a Partisan Brewery bottle or two, for a one-off tee to celebrate the 2016 Tour De France.
In a vintage-vibing off white with modest navy stitching, the cycling motif and focus of the shirt sits across the chest and under the arm. As the peloton heads in one direction, a single red cyclist heads in the opposite way, a little bit reminiscent (for me, anyway) of Minor Threat’s Out of Step cover.
An easy Summer piece, this is a tee that oozes laidback appeal for poolside and trackside wear. Teamed with the right selection of Whistles’ Summer ‘16 pieces, you can create an 80’s inspired winning look to channel your inner Bernard Hinault or even John Mcenroe.
Think above-the-knee shorts and clean white trainers with track tops and you’re on your way to getting right behind the Summer of sport (whether its for Le Tour, Les Bleus or Djokovic) all Summer long.
