When the summer rolls around, Brighton really is the best place in the world. As my third summer in the city begins to warm up, it's now that I realise how much like home this place has become.
I recently realised what a great network of creatives, photographers, writers and store owners I've been lucky to get to know through living in the city. It's great to have people to work with and bounce ideas off that see things from your perspective, which I guess is one of the biggest benefits of running Overdiluted from Brighton.
A great example of this is the guys at Peggs & Son, Brighton's go-to menswear haunt who have been kind enough to let me style some gear from their summer collections. Peggs is a shop with a real passion for the gear it sells and the story behind it, something that all of the guys running it share, which I think makes for a good fit for me when it comes to working on some content.
I guess the (fairly loose) theme for the shoot is gear for summer in the city by the sea. Brighton-centric, laidback looks that are perfect for those days enjoying coffee or two in The Lanes or catching up with friends on the beach. Heading out for the morning with Charlie from the Peggs & Son team, we were blessed with the kind of summery light that makes these clothes look their best.
As much as I'm a layer lover, things are a little simpler, slower paced if you will, for this shoot. While we get the weather that lets us really make the most of our city, it's all about maximum comfort and practicality while still keeping plenty of personal style in the mix. This season, I'm gravitating towards Cuban collar shirts, real baggy trousers and–slightly more boringly–long sleeve tees. It has to be said, though, that pale skin often struggles in the sun, which is why long sleeves come in handy.
This is not a sponsored post: Thanks to the guys at Peggs & Son for letting me rifle through and wear their new stock once again.
