Banton Frameworks Profile Collection

Looking at the high street and the work of traditional fashion houses, sunglasses are often the victim of over-designed and excessive branding. The Profile collection from Glasgow’s Banton Frameworks is the antithesis of this, harking back to the utilitarian functionality and industrial design principles of the mid 20th century.

Coming in four striking colours, the premium Italian acetate used in the collection is rotational polished for three days straight, resulting in an almost metallic matt finish. The sides are made from a robust stainless steel, but on first glance, I presumed the frames were in fact metal all over. The matt finish on the acetate is a real nice touch, offering a lightweight and comfortable wear while providing a truly unique look and style that’s hard to match.

The frames are nice and thin–which I’m sure adds a few extra comfort points–but thick enough to have a recognisable weight to them. Lucy and Jamie at Banton have invested a year into the design of these Summer-ready shades, opting to create one style perfectly rather than build out a large collection, which is a testament to the attention to detail and care for craft Banton Frameworks possess.

From drinks on the beach to your stag do city break or even a sunny, Summer’s wedding, the Profile collection will see you right all Summer long, and even come in handy during cold and Bright Autumnal morning, but let’s not worry about life after Summer just yet.

Totally unisex, as you’d expect from brilliant, functional design, preorders are available now from, with a 40% discount on offer for those who get in early. Brilliant stuff.
